Spring is here! The long awaited season, time to dust off the cobwebs of our 2016 resolutions and clear out the clutter....
In this month's newsletter, Beaumont Street Chiropractic Clinic would like to share some tips on how to stay healthy and
With the beginning of the warmer season we are looking forward to spending more time outdoors, whether its gardening, playing sport, walking and enjoying a picnic, it is also time to clean out the clutter! Research has shown that clearing our physical clutter helps us to think more clearly and feel more at peace with ourselves.
Today many of our traditional household cleaning products contain harsh chemicals and toxic odours, that can be harmful and considered a form of indoor pollution, called the new smoke! The reason why is that even small exposures and especially repeated exposures can cause headaches, dizziness, fatigue as well as irritation of the eyes and nose. Floor polish, window cleaners and/or air fresheners can be particularly toxic also. Children are most at risk as they spend time crawling, lying and sitting on freshly cleaned surfaces often touching and putting their fingers in their mouths and noses. For many of the same reasons pets may also be at risk.
So does that mean you can avoid cleaning? No! The good news is that many people are using non-toxic brands to clean their homes. Which means its good for you and the environment! By combining just a few non-toxic ingredients you can also make your own which are just as effective, cheaper and still keep your home clean and sparkly.
Here are some of the basic ingredients and their uses that can be found almost in every kitchen:
*Apple Cider Vinegar: can be used as a natural product for cleaning. It is effective when wanting to clean greasy stains and soap scums
*Baking soda: deodorises, brightens and cuts through tough grease and grime.
*Lemon Juice: kills mould and mildew but also leaves a fresh and natural scent.
*Organic Natural Oils: Try a combination of either tea tree, lavender or eucalyptus oils, to give a wonderful natural fragrance and antibacterial properties.
So how can we combine these products to clean the house?
For a Natural All Purpose Cleanser- simply mix:
* 1 Part Apple Cider Vinegar,
* 1 Part Water,
* Few drops of essential oil of either tea tree, lavendar or eucalyptus.
Method: Combine everything in a spray bottle and shake. Spray the surface that needs cleaning and wipe with a cloth.
